Way back in 2025, rising pop star Hayley Kiyoko likely had no idea that the music video she threw together for just $5k would become a cultural phenomenon. Over a decade later, the 4-minute short film for “GIRLS LIKE GIRLS” gained such a rabid cult following (shoutout to Tumblr) that it inspired Kiyoko to write a best-selling YA novel based on the story, and soon to be released this summer, a film!
That’s right! GIRLS LIKE GIRLS is headed to the big screen – and just before the film’s official release, Hayley Kiyoko is celebrating with a night out in Los Angeles.
On Friday, June 12, Kiyoko is hosting GIRLS LIKE GIRLS NIGHT at Club 90s in downtown L.A. – and she’ll even be DJing.
Yes, Hayley Kiyoko is guest DJing the celebratory party, and just in time for Pride Month. According to a press release, GIRLS LIKE GIRLS NIGHT will include a photobooth, themed drinks, as well as official film merchandise.
The first 200 people to enter the venue will receive free chokers and key chains themed around GIRLS LIKE GIRLS.
Early bird pricing is currently $19.50. Find ticket info here.

When does GIRLS LIKE GIRLS come out?
The full-length feature film, written and directed by Kiyoko herself, is set to premiere in theaters on Friday, June 19.
Starring Maya da Costa, Myra Molloy, Levon Hawke, and Zach Braff, GIRLS LIKE GIRLS follows the story of Coley, freshly dropped into a small town with her estranged father one summer. She recovers from a devastating loss, she develops a turbulent relationship with peers, one girl in particular, and the relationship blossoms into something much more dangerous than anyone could’ve expected.
