Ah, it’s Oscars week! A time for glitz, glam—and the annual expected traffic. But don’t fret, we’ve got you covered so your commute won’t be too convoluted.
The 95th Oscars ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, and preparation for the special event are already underway. This week, from Orange Drive to Highland Avenue, all lanes of Hollywood Boulevard will be closed until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 in alliance with the construction of pre-show stages found along the red carpet.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority will also re-route bus traffic and trains to bypass the Ovation Hollywood station after the last scheduled train on Saturday, March 11, until the first scheduled train after 6 a.m. on Monday, March 13.
Starting Sunday, March 5 until Oscar Sunday, March 12, 2023 additional roads and pedestrian walkways will be closed. You can find those those full details here.
Closures On Ceremony Day:
According to the Oscars site, starting midnight Sunday March 12 through 6 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2023:
- Hawthorn Alley from Orange Drive to Highland Avenue
- Orange Drive from Hollywood Boulevard to Lanewood Avenue
- North sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard from Highland Avenue to 300 feet east of Highland Avenue (No access for pedestrians)
- South sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard from Highland Avenue to 300 feet east of Highland Avenue, 8-foot pedestrian access
- South sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard directly in front of the north-south Hawthorn Alley. No pedestrian access to cross alley.
- East sidewalk and curb lane of Highland Avenue from Yucca Street to Sunset Blvd. 8-foot pedestrian access (south of Hollywood Blvd only)
- Extend closure of west sidewalk of Highland Avenue from Hollywood Blvd to Sunset Blvd.
- West curb of Highland Avenue from Johnny Grant Way to Hollywood Blvd until 9:00 a.m.
From 4a.m. March 12 through 4a.m. March 13, 2023 close:
- North and south crosswalks on Hollywood Boulevard at the Highland Avenue intersection.
- Highland Avenue from Sunset Boulevard to Franklin Avenue.
- Hollywood Boulevard from La Brea Boulevard to Orange Drive.
- Hollywood Boulevard from Highland Avenue to Cahuenga Boulevard.
