Though he plays a cowboy on the show Yellowstone, actor Ian Bohen is a California boy at heart – and recently shared his favorite Los Angeles eatery.
We caught up with the actor at the Habit Ranch pop-up event in Pioneertown, California. There, Bohen opened up about his own ranch roots and growing up in California.
“I lived in Los Angeles for 30 years,” he tells Secret Los Angeles. “I love the people. I love the food, the iconic buildings. I like the touristy stuff. I like Hollywood. I like Hollywood Boulevard. I like the Walk of Fame. I like seeing film crews, and, you put all that together with the best weather in the world. It’s a pretty cool place to hang out.”
While there are “so many” incredible restaurants to choose from across L.A., Bohen’s favorite is a West Hollywood spot that’s been in operation for over 40 years.
“There’s an Italian restaurant called Madeo, that is, in my opinion, the best place to eat in Los Angeles. When I go home, I always go there.
His go-to order? “Penne Madeo with meatballs. Simple. Every time, I don’t even look at the menu. It’s great.”
What is Madeo Ristorante?
The restaurant originally opened in 1985 in West Hollywood with a dedication to serving authentic Italian cuisine.
According to Madeo’s website, the founder, Alifio, “invited Angelenos to embrace their traditional Tuscan family recipes from Alfio’s mamma, best known as Nonna Tina, which have remained unchanged for 40 years.”
The menu includes ravioli, soups, filet mignon, spaghetti with lobster or sea bass roe, and of course, Bohen’s order, the Penne Madeo.
