June 19, known as Juneteenth, is a day that commemorates the end of slavery in America and the emancipation of enslaved people. It’s an official holiday in Los Angeles, and has been considered a federal holiday since President Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act in 2021. Los Angeles is full of Juneteenth events and celebrations that you can partake in all month long, and we collected the best below!
1. 33rd Annual Juneteenth Celebration – Santa Monica
The City of Santa Monica and the Juneteenth Celebration Committee, Inc. have teamed up to host a day full of live music, incredible food and craft vendors, along with local resources to celebrate the 33rd annual Juneteenth celebration! This year’s theme is A Family Affair: Unifying, Healing & Restoring.

2. 2025 Juneteenth Celebration – Hawthorne
This year the City of Hawthorne is honoring Juneteenth with a full day of activities celebrating community with live music and singers, line dancing, a classic car show, arts and crafts, delicious food trucks, jumpers for the kids, and so much more! It’s a day of freedom, culture, and community.

3. The Long Beach Juneteenth Celebration
This annual celebration is held in Downtown Long Beach and is filled with entertainment and guest speakers. Plus, it’s free to the public. This monumental celebration aims to build, educate, and celebrate the community in support of, in and around the nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.

4. 5th Annual Juneteenth Resource Fair – Compton
Join the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) at the 5th Annual Juneteenth Celebration and Resource Fair on Saturday, June 14, 2025. This free event will feature on-site county services, record expungement, aquatic activities and lessons, technology and coding workshops, food giveaways, tenant protections, and stress relief techniques. Plus, the LACoFD will have fire equipment on display and provide information for career opportunities and community programs.

5. Black on the Block Juneteenth Festival
Black on the Block Juneteenth Festival returns on Sunday, June 15, 2025 from 1:00 – 8:00 PM at Los Angeles Center Studios. Join the family-friendly celebration of the fourth anniversary of the festival with 150 plus Black-owned businesses, 40 food vendors, and live performances by Mario and THEY.

6. Black in Mayberry’s 2025 Juneteenth Freedom Exhibition and Celebration
This 4th annual celebration of Juneteenth is free and open to the public. And they welcome everyone to enjoy this vibrant celebration of African American culture. The Juneteenth Freedom Exhibition and Celebration will have something for everyone, like live music, performances, interactive arts activities, art exhibition, a kid’s play area, black-owned business vendors, food trucks, and so much more. But most importantly, there will be activities and attractions that celebrate African American culture, history, and contributions to America.

7. Juneteenth Freedom Day Ride
The Juneteenth Freedom Day Ride has always been a celebration of liberation. The event brings cyclists from all over Southern California together to celebrate the holiday with a ride through central Los Angeles, showcasing historical African American sites. Join them for an enjoyable ride that promotes Black excellence, Juneteenth, and safe cycling in historic Leimert Park.

8. National Park Service free entrance day

The National Park Service will host the third of six free admission days for 2025 this Juneteenth, meaning visitors can enjoy waived fees for parking, entry, and museums at national parks across the country. Consider visiting some of SoCal’s best NPS sites like Joshua Tree, Death Valley, and Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks.

9. Juneteenth Rooftop Party

Plus+One and &Things are hosting a Juneteenth Rooftop Party in downtown Los Angeles. “Celebrate Black joy with your community full of cousins complete with refreshing cocktails & great music to get you in the groove,” reads the description. “Wear your flyest summer fits & gear up for a great day in LA!” Tickets start at $22.99.

10. Black Rocks LA
Who’s ready to rock climb? Black Rocks LA is hosting a stacked Juneteenth event with rock climbing, DJs, a game room, raffle prizes, Jamaican Patties, and a Black vendor village offering candles, tattoos, clothes, and more.

11. Black Professionals Network Mixer
Black Professionals Network is hosting “a special event focused on community building, culture, and meaningful connections. Whether you’re looking to network, reflect, or simply vibe with like-minded professionals, this evening is for YOU.”

12. Hilltop Juneteenth Cookout

13. No Fuks Given Comedy Jam
If you’re looking to laugh, stop by this comedy jam on Thursday evening! The setlist includes comedians Craig Robinson, Godfrey, Aido Rodriguez, Dominque, Ruben Paul, and George Wallace. The event will also include a live band and celebrity performances.

14. Celebrate Juneteenth at LA County Parks
LA County Parks is celebrating Juneteenth with multiple free events happening across L.A. Enjoy a day of culture, community, and connection, featuring free workshops, live music, youth and teen zones, sports tournaments, and delicious food tastings! It’s fun for the whole family.

15. Culver City Juneteenth Celebration
The City of Culver City is celebrating Juneteenth on Saturday, June 21st, from 1 PM to 4 PM at Ivy Station. This free, family-friendly event will be a day of reflection, education, and celebration. You can enjoy a performance of the Black National Anthem and live music featuring BriJolie and Friends and the Top Shelf Brass Band. Plus, they’ll have kids’ activities, cultural information, market vendors, and community resources. And soul food from Dulan’s on Crenshaw will served up for the ultimate tasty Juneteenth treat. The event offers free parking, and the location is public transit friendly.
