Knott’s Berry Farm Has Canceled This Year’s Halloween Haunt

By Secret Los Angeles August 11, 2020

The Knott’s Scary Farm event has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.

Knott’s Berry Farm’s Halloween event, will not be going ahead this year as a result of coronavirus concerns.  The park is the latest in a number of Halloween event cancelations across SoCal, including Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights, the Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor, and Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure.

“Regrettably, due to continued operating restrictions related to the pandemic, we have had to make the very difficult decision to cancel our highly anticipated 2020 Knott’s Scary Farm event,” Knott’s officials said on Tuesday. “We know that this news is disappointing, but we look forward with great enthusiasm to making 2021 Knott’s Scary Farm our best year ever.”

Officials noted the difficulty of meeting restrictions recommended by the CDC and public health experts with the event’s novel features. The set-up usually includes elaborate lighting and sound installations. Costumes and makeup would also require long periods of physical interaction between “scareactors” and artists.

In the meantime, visitors can still enjoy alfresco dining on Grand Avenue as well as a number of food, drink and retail offerings as part of their centennial celebrations. When the park reopens, it will also be introducing a new ride called the all-new “Knott’s Bear-y Tales: Return to the Fair,” which officials are describing as a “4D interactive dark ride that celebrates a beloved classic attraction with a reimagined gaming twist. ”
