The Biltmore: An historic hotel
The Biltmore in Downtown Los Angeles has been an iconic landmark since its opening in 1923. The architecture showcases a blend of Renaissance Revival and Beaux-Arts styles, making it super grand and opulent. Its Gold Ballroom, which will be used for Candlelight, has been a backdrop for tons of significant events, including the Oscars, and has welcomed dignitaries, celebrities, and guests from around the world. Altar Society Brewing and Coffee Co.
Head to Long Beach for an intimate Candlelight performance at Altar Society. Beers are brewed and coffee is roasted at the historic venue—previously a Masonic Temple and the oldest building in Downtown Long Beach. Soak up the history in this spectacular brewery, and you can also try their restaurant or cafe.
Skirball Cultural Center, Glendale
The Skirball Cultural Center is a meeting place inspired by Jewish tradition and democratic ideals of freedom and equality. Zipper Concert Hall: A home for musicians
Found on the campus of the Colburn School and named after musician and music educator Herbert Zipper, this 415-seat concert hall is home to a number of choirs and music groups including world-renowned Musica Angelica, VOX Femina Los Angeles, and the Southwest Chamber Music. In other words, you just know that music is going to sound like a dream in this space.
Historic Woman’s Club, Santa Monica
Candlelight concerts in this renovated Santa Monica building are supported by glass transoms, twin staircases, and original maple floors. Tribute concerts to soulful singers such as Lauryn Hill are perfectly suited to the spacious main ballroom of the Historic Woman’s Club. In keeping with the Historic Woman Club’s dedication to hosting community events, the historical society welcomes Candlelight into its arms.
Saban Theatre
This historic Beverly Hills gem constructed in a beautiful Art Deco style. Formerly known as the Fox Wilshire Theater, the Los Angeles landmark has been a home to a wide range of performances, from vaudeville shows to concerts. Yet, it’s its silver, gold and black proscenium and organ screens that make this space truly one-of-a-kind.
The Queen Mary: Concerts aboard a historic ocean liner
This retired British ocean liner sailed on her maiden voyage in 1936 on the North Atlantic. However, during World War II, it was repurposed and used as a troopship, mainly transporting Allied soldiers between the US and Europe. Nowadays, the grand ship is owned by the city of Long Beach and it houses a museum, as well as a restaurant and a hotel. That’s right, you can even sleep aboard the historic ocean liner and have breakfast with a view.
