NFL fans are more dedicated to conversation than you might think. They spend an average of 429 days of their lives talking about their favorite team. That’s according to PromoGuy’s NFL Team Talk Study, which surveyed 2,000 fans across the country. To put that in perspective, it amounts to more than a week of continuous football talk every year or roughly 1.2 years over a lifetime. It’s a statistic that speaks volumes about just how deep the game runs for its most loyal supporters.
LA Chargers Fans Can’t Stop Talking
Looks like the Bolts are winning in more ways than one. According to the study, LA Chargers fans talk about their team more than any other fanbase in the NFL, clocking in at about 5.4 hours a week of pure football chatter. That adds up to 11.7 days of nonstop talk every year, or roughly 702 days over a lifetime. And when the conversation turns to players, quarterback Justin Herbert is the name that comes up the most.
Which NFL fans talk the least?
While Chargers fans can’t stop talking, their cross-town rivals are keeping things quieter. LA Rams fans spend the least amount of time talking about their team, just 1.5 hours a week, the lowest of any NFL fanbase. That equals about 3.3 days per year, or 195 days over a lifetime. Still, when Rams fans do talk, it’s Matthew Stafford who dominates the conversation.
What methodology did they use?
In September 2025, PromoGuy surveyed 2,000 football fans nationwide to see how much time they spend talking about their favorite NFL team. The group was 51% male, 48% female, and 1% non-binary, with an average age of 43. Fans shared their weekly chatter habits, from pregame banter to postgame debates, and named the player they talk about most. Using those responses, researchers calculated weekly, yearly, and lifetime averages, based on an average fandom of 60 years.
