Free gas? In this economy? It sounds unreal, but it’s real, and it’s all part of a surprise, limited-time pop-up happening today in the city, where drivers can get their tanks filled at no cost with Keke Palmer and LaKeith Stanfield right at the pump.
The stars of Boots Riley’s upcoming film I Love Boosters are hitting the streets to help fill up your tank with some “boosted” free gas. On Tuesday, May 12 at 10:30 AM, the first 70 cars in line at the Shell Gas Station at 8500 West Pico Boulevard will get their tanks refueled by Keke, LaKeith, and the I Love Boosters ambassadors. Free merch will also be given out to lucky participants, while supplies last.
About I Love Boosters
I Love Boosters is a crime comedy directed and written by Boots Riley. The film follows a group of professional shoplifters (boosters) who target a powerful fashion mogul in a stylized, satirical take on consumer culture. The ensemble cast includes Keke Palmer, LaKeith Stanfield, Naomi Ackie, Eiza González, Will Poulter, Don Cheadle, and Demi Moore.
The story is set in a surreal version of the Bay Area and blends heist comedy with political satire, exploring themes such as economic inequality, labor exploitation, and resistance through absurdist humor.
Distributed by NEON, the film is scheduled for theatrical release on May 22, and it marks Riley’s follow-up to Sorry to Bother You.
