With the countdown to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games officially on, LA28 just dropped some major news. They’re launching a new fundraising effort to get free tickets into the hands of local residents, and the Los Angeles Rams are kicking things off with a massive $5 million donation.
Timed just under 1,000 days out from the Games, the initiative calls on L.A. sports teams, philanthropists, and community partners to help fund tickets that will be distributed directly to local nonprofits. The goal is to make sure real Angelenos and not just visitors get to experience the once-in-a-lifetime event happening in their own backyard.
“The Games Are for Everyone”
“The 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games are for everyone,” said LA28 Chairperson and President Casey Wasserman. “We want the people who contribute to the soul of Los Angeles to be able to see the Games in their hometown.” He also gave a major shout-out to Stan Kroenke and the Rams for being the first to step up.
SoFi Stadium: The Epicenter of 2028
It’s a fitting move, considering Stan Kroenke’s 2028 Stadium, built as the crown jewel of his massive Hollywood Park development, will host both the Olympic and Paralympic Opening Ceremonies. The stadium will even transform into the largest Olympic swimming venue ever. Meanwhile, the brand-new Hollywood Park Studios will serve as the International Broadcast Center during the Games, putting Inglewood on the world stage yet again.
Rams President: Sports as a Force for Good
“When SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park were built, it was with the dream of bringing global events to Los Angeles and creating positive community impact,” said Rams President Kevin Demoff. “This program will give thousands of Angelenos the chance to experience the Games firsthand.”
The Rams will celebrate their donation during their upcoming home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football, where they’ll present an official check to LA28 on the field before kickoff.
Tickets for the Rest of Us
LA28 is inviting individuals, organizations, and community leaders across the region to join the effort and help make the Games truly reflective of the city’s diverse communities. And if you’re hoping to score tickets yourself, LA28 is offering early access for locals when tickets go on sale in 2026 with some starting at just $28. More details drop next year, but you can already sign up for updates here at LA28.org.
