Los Angeles has earned top honors this year from Condé Nast Traveler by coming in at number 61 on their annual list of The 71 Most Beautiful Streets in the World. The infamous Olvera Street has once again gained national attention and for very good reason. This gorgeous street has long been renowned for its beauty and historical significance.
Olvera Street is known as “the birthplace of Los Angeles.” It’s home to a Mexican Marketplace that makes you feel like you’re stepping back in time to a more romantic Los Angeles of the past. It preserves and celebrates L.A.’s Mexican heritage.
You can enjoy cultural events, shopping, and some of the most delicious food that L.A. has to offer. Plus, the oldest existing house in Los Angeles, Avila Adobe, which was built way back in 1818, is located at 10th Olvera Street. This vibrant cultural hub is a favorite of tourists and locals alike.
“While Los Angeles’s best-known streets may be Rodeo Drive or Sunset Boulevard, to experience the birthplace of the city, head to Olvera Street in Downtown LA.,” proclaimed Condé Nast Traveler. Of all of the many historic, beautiful, and famous avenues twisting throughout Los Angeles, Olvera Street will always have a special place of honor in our hearts, and we’re obviously not alone in feeling that sentiment.
