Los Angeles 2028 Olympic organizers announced last Thursday that total ticket sales have crossed the 6 million mark following the close of Drop 2 and an accompanying Visa presale, leaving the bulk of the initial inventory sold.
The next opportunity for the general public to buy tickets will not arrive until 2027, when a first-come, first-served system replaces the lottery-style draws used this year.
How the 2027 sales will work
LA28 has not yet set an opening date for 2027 ticket sales, although further details will be announced in the coming months.
Unlike the two drops held in 2026, the upcoming sales round will carry no purchase limits — fans who already bought tickets during Drop 1 or Drop 2 remain eligible to buy more. Organizers will open additional ticket inventory across a wider range of sports, although availability is not guaranteed.
Fans will not need to register for a draw, but will be required to create a free LA28 ID if they have not done so already.
Paralympics and resale market also coming in 2027
The 2027 window will also mark the debut of the first-ever Paralympic Ticket Drop, giving fans their initial chance to secure seats for the Paralympic Games.
Separately, LA28’s verified resale program will launch at the same time. Once live, the only authorized resale channels will be LA28’s Official Secondary Ticket Marketplace alongside partners AXS and Eventim.
The organization warned that any tickets currently listed for resale on third-party sites have not been verified by LA28.
Volunteers and community roles still open
Beyond ticket purchases, Angelenos can apply for up to 60,000 Games-time volunteer roles through the LA28 Volunteer Program, where you can support ceremonies, communications, driving, guest experience, operations, sport, translation, and more.
Los Angeles will become the third city in history to host three Olympic Games, following 1932 and 1984.
The 2028 Olympic Games are scheduled for July 14-30, 2026, followed by the city’s first Paralympic Games from August 15-27, 2028.
