In celebration of the opening of the David Geffen Galleries, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is hosting a Very LACMA Block Party this summer!
The event is set to take place on June 20, 2026, and will feature an art parade, DJ sets, food, art activities for kids, guided gallery tours, and free entry to LACMA and the David Geffen Galleries.
Presented in collaboration with Jeffrey Deitch, The Art Parade is a large-scale public procession through Museum Row. According to the website, “the parade invites participation from artists, musicians, performers, art students, and the city’s entire dynamic creative community. The Art Parade is open to emerging and established artists and creatives of all ages and backgrounds, including students. Individual artists, groups, and community-based organizations are welcome to apply.”
The entire event is celebrating the expansion of the LACMA campus. The David Geffen Galleries offer 110,000 additional square feet for museum goers to explore, and has also added an additional 3.5 acres of new outdoor public space at LACMA. The project took about two decades to complete.
The David Geffen Galleries officially open on April 19, 2026, to LACMA members and donors, then the general public beginning May 4.
