The Paris 2024 Olympics have come to an end, and Team USA is already gearing up for another great run at the Paralympics at the end of the month. If all this Olympic energy has got you thinking about the 2028 Games in Los Angeles, you’re not alone — and believe it or not, it’s not unreasonable to start putting out some feelers for tickets.
Travel creator N’Dea Irvin-Choy (@bmekween on Instagram) tipped off followers that the LA28 website is already live, and you can subscribe to the newsletter to be the first to hear about ticket releases, volunteering at the games, and job and media opportunities.
If previous years are any indication, then ticket info will become available about a year and a half before the games begin, so early 2027. Opening ceremonies are scheduled on July 14, 2028 for the Olympics and August 15, 2028 for the Paralympics.
The Olympics often use a lottery system for ticket sales, but nothing is set in stone for the Los Angeles games just yet. In any case, subscribing to the newsletter is your best bet to make sure you’re in the loop.
Paris 2024 is the first Olympics where ticket sales are done online only and accessible worldwide. The 2024 Games put out nearly 10 million tickets for the Olympics and over 3 million tickets for the Paralympics.
In addition to ticket sales, the LA28 newsletter will keep you updated on volunteer and job opportunities for the Games. LA28 is a non-profit, private organization, and it will be building up manpower in major ways leading up to 2028. Paris 2024 recruited about 45,000 volunteers to help support the event this year, so you’d better believe that there will be similar opportunities for a once-in-a-lifetime experience here in L.A.
Los Angeles’ upcoming role as host city at the 2028 Olympics is significant in numerous exciting ways, from when L.A. saved the future of the Games by hosting back in 1984, to the hundreds of talented athletes that call the City of Angels their home. We can’t wait to see how L.A. makes its mark on the Olympic legacy in the summer of 2028.
