This weekend, Los Angeles is closing its streets to cars, but for once, it’s not for construction. It’s for CicLAvia, the city’s largest open-streets event, and this edition comes with an extra reason to show up: the World Cup Final.
🚴 Meet the Hollywoods
CicLAvia—Meet the Hollywoods, presented by Metro, takes over the streets on Sunday, July 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event connects East Hollywood, Hollywood, and West Hollywood across 6.6 miles of car-free streets, marking the 67th CicLAvia since the nonprofit began in 2010.
Streets close to vehicle traffic from 7 a.m. to approximately 6 p.m., giving walkers, joggers, cyclists, and skaters full run of Santa Monica Boulevard, Highland Avenue, and Hollywood Boulevard. As always, CicLAvia is completely free, and there’s no official start or finish line. Participants can join anywhere along the route and move at their own pace.
🏆 A World Cup Final watch party, right on the route
This year’s event lines up with a major moment: the World Cup Final. CicLAvia is teaming up with Metro to host a Final Match Watch Party at the Walk of Fame Hub. Before the big match, there’s also a 1v1 tournament planned at the hub, adding some competitive energy to the day before everyone settles in to watch the final.
📍 The four hubs
CicLAvia’s route includes four main hubs, each offering free water refill stations, bike repair, parking, and restrooms:
- 📍 West Hollywood Hub: 8800 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood
- 📍 Plummer Park Hub: 7377 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood
- 📍 Walk of Fame Hub: 6815 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles (site of the World Cup watch party)
- 📍 East Hollywood Hub: 4531 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles
🚇 How to get there
Metro’s B Line (Red Line) offers the most direct access, with the Hollywood/Highland station sitting right at the Walk of Fame Hub. The Hollywood/Vine and Hollywood/Western stations are also within walking distance of the route. All bus routes along the CicLAvia path will be detoured for the day, so Metro Rail is the easiest way in. Metro Bike Share stations are available throughout the area, including pop-up locations at the West Hollywood and Walk of Fame Hubs.
Between the open streets, the local history along the route, and a World Cup Final watch party built right in, this weekend’s CicLAvia might be one of the most eventful editions yet.
