Summer in Los Angeles hits hard. The heat is real, the beach traffic is brutal, and a day at a water park can easily run $60 or more per person. But here’s what most Angelenos don’t know: LA County quietly runs 23 completely free splash pads at parks across the region — and they’re already open for the 2026 water season!
What is a splash pad, exactly?

A splash pad — also called a spray park or sprayground — is an interactive water play area at ground level. Water jets, sprinklers, and spray nozzles shoot up from the floor, creating a safe, shallow, and endlessly fun space for kids and families. There’s no standing water, which means no lifeguard required and no drowning risk. You just walk in and get soaked.
