L.A. is joining a nationwide wave of massive Independence Day celebrations as the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, a milestone that’s pushing cities across the country to scale up their summer events.
On the West Coast, that momentum is building into something big, with DTLA as the epicenter of the largest free celebration on this side of the country. Gloria Molina Grand Park Fourth of July Block Party will turn the city streets into an open-air festival filled with live music, large crowds, and skyline-level spectacle!

The event runs from 4 PM to 9:30 PM and will feature two performance areas spread across Grand Park and the City Hall grounds.
The Backyard Stage (on the Event Lawn next to City Hall), hosted by Carolina Márquez will focus on live performances and genre-blending acts. The lineup includes Healing Gems, Tropa Mágica, Kati Hernandez, KimBambula Cuban Dance & Music Ensemble, DJ Captain Planet, and Grupo Soñador.
On the other side, The Front Yard Stage takes over the Performance Lawn with DJ Banga Brownin as host. This space is built around continuous DJ sets, with Jeremy Sole, Francesca Harding, and DJ Nu-Mark keeping the energy flowing all evening.
Beyond the music, the park turns into a full festival setup: food trucks along the walkways, interactive installations across open spaces, and family-friendly zones spread throughout the grounds.
The main attraction? The return of the beloved Ferris wheel rising above the festival footprint as a familiar visual anchor in the Downtown skyline! The evening ends with a synchronized drone show featuring 700 drones, replacing traditional fireworks and lighting up the sky above City Hall.
DTLA Street closures and access
To host the event, Los Angeles shuts down roughly six city blocks around Grand Park and City Hall, creating a contained pedestrian zone in the heart of Downtown. Key closures include:
- Spring Street between Temple and 1st–2nd Streets
- Hill Street between Temple and 2nd Street
- Broadway between Temple and 2nd Street
- 1st Street between Grand Avenue and Main Street
- Additional surrounding connector streets near Olive and adjacent blocks
The closure begins before the afternoon event window and turns the area into a no-vehicle zone for the evening. Access is primarily via Metro Civic Center / Grand Park Station, while driving is heavily disrupted due to perimeter congestion and limited parking.
