Double up on your drive-in experience with a meal and a movie at Mel’s.
The iconic Mel’s Drive-In brought back its carhop service earlier this year and now movies are on the menu too. You can jump in your car and drive back in time for a full-blown retro night out with American food and classic movies at the Sunset Boulevard location. Screenings will take place every Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
Follow the gleaming neon signs order a shake, burger and fries—yes, there are delicious vegan options too—then settle in for a film and a serious serving of nostalgia. There are classic car nights too for a complete trip back to a bygone era, you’re also likely to see stars roaming around, ranging from Xzibit to Mackenzie Phillips.
While there’s an intoxicating retro air about the experience, you won’t be paying old-school prices. Tickets are $40 parking spots and an additional $10 for each person in the car. Alternatively, you can purchase a Tented Director Chair Table Seating ticket that seats 4 people for $30. Each ticket comes with free popcorn and occasionally there’s free cocoa too. You can book your tickets online here.
You’ll need to tune in via FM radio, so if you don’t have one in your car you’ll need to bring one.
