And it’s clear that this instant classic horror film is popular not only with Californians but also with many other scary movie lovers across the United States. Get Out has an IMDB rating of 7.8 out of 10. Plus, it has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 98%. Clearly, this film is beloved by many.
Horror Film Research
Host Havoc gathered Internet data to determine each state’s most-watched horror movie. In order to get the rankings, researchers reviewed online search data from each state for 100 popular and classic scary movies. And they only looked for search frequency within the past year. Then, they identified the movie with the highest search volume in each state. After that, in order to account for population differences, each film was ranked by searches per 100,000 people.
West Coast Favorites
And Californians loved Get Out so much that they searched for it 84, 926 times per 100,000 people. The other favorite horror films on the West Coast are The Fog in Oregon and It Comes at Night in Washington State. The only other spot in the U.S. that shares California’s love of Get Out is Washington D.C.
Grab a bucket of popcorn, and get thrilled all over again by Jordan Peele’s award-winning horror thriller.
