One of the coolest street art mural galleries in Los Angeles is tucked away in the city’s second-highest building!
The US Bank Tower isn’t just home to the highest restaurant west of the Mississippi River, and the 3rd highest helipad in the United States, but it’s also a hub of stunning street art bursting with Angeleno Pride – and we could all use more community right now.
The space is typically closed to the public, but building owners Silverstein Properties gave Secret Los Angeles an exclusive look.
How did the gallery come together?
In 2022, Silverstein Properties launched its Skyhigh DTLA project in an effort to reconnect with the “great neighborhoods” of the community. 15 street artists shared their love for the City of Angels through their art, crafting a massive showcase with the backdrop view of L.A. from almost 1,000 feet in the air.
The gorgeous hand-painted murals are plastered on the walls, painted on the floor, and even wrapped around pillars.
Which artists are featured?
The participating artists include Alejandro Poli Jr. aka Man One, Angel Guznay aka Misteralek, Beau Stanton, Casey Courey Pickering, Debi Cable, Elliot Klein aka Elliot nes, Erin Michelle aka Haus of Emichi, Iker Muro, Jayson Valencia, Lauren YS, Mary Lai, Nora Martin Hall, Paloma Melendez aka Paloma Arciniega, Quentin Thomas aka Shplinton, Raziel Gonzalez aka eadwerd, and Sophie Mazzaro.
Some of the paintings have been purchased privately.
Where is the gallery?
The pieces were originally painted on the 72nd floor of the US Bank Tower, but were moved down to the 61st floor after a tenant leased the space. The murals still live on the 61st floor, which is typically closed to the public but is used for tenant events, private events, and filming.
Silverstein Properties has a similar installation at the World Trade Center in New York City.
Can you see it?
Unless you are a tenant in the building, there are limited opportunities to see the space. One of them is the property’s annual charity stair climb with the Ketchum-Downtown YMCA.
Around 4,000 participants climb 1,664 steps from the lobby level to the roof and get their own glimpse of the iconic view. The steps rise 1,005 feet, which makes it the tallest stairwell west of the Mississippi.
According to a representative, “This is the biggest fundraising event for the YMCA, raising nearly $700,000 for programs, education, childcare for youths and teens living in underserved communities in LA.”
Participants end the climb on the roof of the 75th floor, where they collect a crown. Once they receive their metal, they are directed back down to a recovery floor, typically the 61st, where they can take in the view, and the YMCA provides participants with water and fruit.
The 61st floor is where the murals currently are, so participants can potentially see them after the climb.
This year’s stair climb is set for Friday, September 26, 2025. Registration for the 32nd Annual Climb opens July 1, 2025.
