Oktoberfest 2024 descends on L.A. in September and October with a delightful range of memorable beer-fueled events. Local breweries, community organizations, and theme parks pull out all the stops to transport us to Germany in a celebration for the ages.
The traditional Oktoberfest event dates back to 1810, when it began as a wedding celebration for the crown prince of Bavaria. Two hundred years later, people across the globe seize on the opportunity to dress in traditional German garb, play drinking games with massive foaming beer steins, and party to their hearts’ content. 1. Old World Oktoberfest
The Biergarten at Old World Huntington Beach presents a hell of a party for nine straight weeks this fall. Sing and dance to traditional Bavarian songs performed live, join energetic competitions and games, and bite into juicy bratwurst. Beer will be flowing in traditional steins and shot girls will roam the grounds to keep the energy high all evening long.

2. Montrose Oktoberfest
Spend a fun, family-friendly day in Montrose at this wholesome community Oktoberfest celebration. Schreiners Fine Sausages will be preparing spectacular bratwurst, sauerkraut, and potato salad to enjoy in between carnival rides and games. Admission is free, but you can avoid lines by pre-buying food, drink, and ride tickets.

3. Oktoberfest at WurstkΓΌche
WurstkΓΌche will be pouring massive 1L steins of Oktoberfest beer to enjoy a five-week Bavarian celebration by the beach, complete with live yodeling and music. All events are open to everyone, but they recommend coming October 20th if you’re bringing children.

4. Oktoberfest at Santa Anita Park
Arcadia’s Thoroughbred racetrack puts on some of the area’s best horse racing events, and their Oktoberfest celebration is a totally unique experience. For two weekends in October, you can enjoy delicious Oktoberfest beer tastings, live musical performances, and delicious Bavarian food. Guests will go all out for the costume contest, stein holding competition, corn hole competition, and musical chairs.

5. Los Angeles Beer Festival
If you’re at Oktoberfest specifically for the beer, the LA Beer Festival presents a fantastic selection of over 200 beers from more than 80 local and craft breweries. Sip on the area’s best brews in the Bavarian beer village while enjoying live entertainment from “Festmeister Hans und Die Sauerkrauts.” The $50 general admission fee includes unlimited beer samples from dozens of breweries.

6. POPtoberfest
The Pacific Opera Project, a community opera group presenting wide-ranging, accessible opera productions, is hosting its first-ever POPtoberfest event this year in Highland Park. Listen to traditional tunes from a live all-women Oompah band as well as classic drinking songs from operas, musicals, and more. Enjoy delicious food, stein-holding contests, authentic dress, dancing, and plenty of good cheer to go around.

7. Oktoberfest at Big Bear Lake
For 54 years, Big Bear Lake has hosted one of the area’s most well-produced and well-attended Oktoberfest celebrations. The festival brings three bands directly from Germany to perform for raucous crowds, and you’ll have the chance to taste the exact same beers and food served at the event in Munich, including bratwurst, knockwurst, kielbasa, Bavarian dumplings, and apple strudel. Make the trip out to the desert to join traditional Oktoberfest games such as log sawing competitions and the annual Queen Stein Carrying Contest.

8. Oktoberfest Food Festival at Six Flags
Six Flags Magic Mountain is hosting multiple fall-themed events including their famous Halloween Fright Fest, a kid-friendly Boo Fest, and of course lively weekend food festival in honor of Oktoberfest. Try a menu of German-inspired cuisine while enjoying craft and seasonal beers in between roller coasters.

9. Craftoberfest
A carefully curated lineup of SoCal craft breweries will offer unlimited pours at the Rose Bowl’s Craftoberfest. 10. Fairplex Presents Oktoberfest
