Los Angeles is known for its stunning sunsets, endless beaches, the iconic Hollywood sign, and sprawling highways. But with nearly 4 million residents and over 6 million registered vehicles (according to 2019 official data), parking often feels like an adventure that raises your stress levels and hits your wallet hard.
For this reason, we got to work and analyzed the city’s official data. More specifically, we took a deep dive into parking citations issued so far this year, from January 1st to June 1st, and the numbers are shocking.
In just the first half of the year, the city has already issued over 770,896 parking citations. This represents 35% of the average 2 million citations issued annually, according to the specialized site Crosstown. The most common violations include parking during street cleaning, in red zones, with expired meters, and parking in bus-only zones, among others.
The parking ticket hotspots shown on the map come from an analysis of the top three streets for each of the city’s 10 most common parking violations, revealing the key areas driving the majority of parking citations across Los Angeles. And if you’ve been wondering which streets rack up the most parking citations regardless of violation type, these are the top 10 streets in the city:
