Summer just got that much hotter…
If you’ve ever stood in the hours-long line wrapped around what’s arguably the most popular restaurant in Chinatown, news of Howlin’ Ray’s opening a second location probably has you jumping with joy. This is the first expansion for the infamous eatery where Angelenos take it upon themselves to put their tastebuds to the test! Unfortunately, the wait continues – fans won’t be able to take a bite out of the highly sought after fried chicken at the new hotspot in Pasadena until 2020.
The second-ever Howlin’ Ray’s will be located along South Arroyo Parkway, just a block away from the future Shake Shack expansion. Owner’s Amanda and Johnny Ray Zone are excited to welcome customers into a much bigger space and plan to offer large parties, special events, and catering thanks to all the extra square footage. The original brick-and-mortar opened back in 2016 and is much more intimate, only offering seating outside of the shop.
Howlin’ Ray’s has come a long way since its food truck days. What started off as a career leap for Zone, has now become a massive spicy chicken sensation attracting fans from all over the world who wait literal hours to get a taste of that infamous ghost pepper seasoning. There have been many attempts to recreate the restaurant’s success, but no one has them howlin’ like Ray!
