Summer in Southern California means one thing: the streets fill up. Block parties pop up in nearly every neighborhood the second the weather warms, turning ordinary corners into dance floors. It’s become a seasonal ritual — and this weekend, Santa Monica is throwing one of the biggest versions of it yet.
On Saturday, July 11, the City of Santa Monica is shutting down all three blocks of the Third Street Promenade for Santa Monica Block Fest Vol. V — a free, all-ages street takeover packed with DJ sets, local food, and an open-container zone stretching across the entire festival grounds.
The event runs from 5:00 PM to midnight, turning one of L.A.’s most walkable shopping corridors into a full-blown outdoor party for the night.
What to expect on the Promenade
Block Fest splits the Promenade into two curated stages, each with its own lineup and sound. The 1400 block is curated by YAPPY STUDIOS, while the 1300 block is hosted by Beat Repeat — giving attendees the chance to walk between two distinct sets without ever leaving the festival footprint.
The lineup features DJ sets from a mix of rising and established names, including:
- Distant Matter
- MOONLGHT
- Sam Silver
- Marzi
- WENZL
- Nash Rly
- Plexusplay
- KNWN
- Waxthieves
Beyond the music, the Promenade will host a 20+ vendor night market, featuring some of L.A.’s local restaurants dishing out everything from street eats to dessert. And thanks to the EZSM Entertainment Zone, you can can carry drinks throughout the festival grounds instead of being confined to a single bar or beer garden
