As spring hits full bloom, bursts of color start popping up everywhere, from botanical gardens to wildflower-covered landscapes. And for plant lovers, this event is the perfect excuse to refresh your home collection and discover rare, exotic species.
The 36th Annual Southern California Spring Garden Show is taking over South Coast Plaza this month, transforming the retail space into a full-on indoor garden escape. At the center of it all: a massive 25-foot floral installation built entirely from natural plant materials by an award-winning Rose Parade float designer.
This year’s theme, “Nurtured by Spring,” leans into sculptural florals and soft wildlife details, anchored by a striking flowering tree made of pink Mokara orchids and cascading leptospermum branches.
Beyond the showpiece, more than 40 specialty vendors and growers will be on-site, offering rare and hard-to-find plants, garden décor, and tools for serious collectors and casual plant parents alike.
California’s biggest mall
Located in Costa Mesa, South Coast Plaza opened on March 15, 1967, and has grown into the largest shopping mall in California and the sixth largest in the United States. The Segerstrom family developed the complex that spans about 2.8 million square feet across three levels, and today includes more than 270 stores and restaurants.
The mall attracts millions of visitors each year and it’s also known for having one of the highest concentrations of luxury retail in the country.
