Summer is kicking in, bringing a full calendar of outdoor plans. From beach walks to seasonal events, the warm months are all about spending more time outside.
One of the more unusual activities happening this weekend is taking place at Hana Field in Costa Mesa, where “Dog Days” returns for a one-night-only experience. The event turns the flower farm into a dog-friendly space filled with walking paths through blooming fields, photo spots, and local vendors.
Visitors can bring their dogs on leash and explore the sunflower fields while enjoying food stands and pet-focused activities. The setup also typically includes rescue groups, so adoption meet-and-greets are part of the experience.
Hana Field and SoCal’s largest sunflower field
Hana Field is a seasonal flower farm operated by Tanaka Farms, roughly forty minutes from Los Angeles. It is widely recognized for hosting one of the largest sunflower fields in the region, covering about 30 acres of flowers during peak season. The space is designed for U-pick style visits, seasonal festivals, and educational farm experiences that change throughout the year.
During sunflower season, the farm becomes a bright yellow landscape that draws visitors from across the region. Beyond its size, what makes Hana Field stand out is how quickly it transforms depending on the crop cycle, shifting from strawberries to pumpkins and sunflowers across different months.
