With its highly recognizable two-tailed mermaid logo, the multinational coffee giant born in Seattle, and a staple of the late ’90s and early 2000s, is going through a major restructuring plan, which is resulting in the closure of (at least for now) 29 stores across California.
At least, that’s what a recent report from Newsweek states. The report compiles the most recent data from both the company itself and other information published by various media outlets.
According to Newsweek, during the last week of September, the company stated it expects to finish the year with 18,300 coffeehouse locations across the U.S. and Canada, with its total North American store count dropping by about one percent, implying roughly 180 net closures. In California alone, the nearly 30 stores that have closed are:
