This Glorious 70s-Themed Cocktail Lounge Is Hidden Above A Hollywood Pizza Restaurant

You can enjoy timeless hits at this throwback bar—you just have to find it first!

Sunset & Vinyl – a bar with turntables, endless vinyls 70’s vibe – is hidden within and above 8oo Degrees Pizza. Founder Anthony Carron transformed the vacant space above his restaurant into a blast from the past. After you make your way past the leather booths and the pizza station, head towards the bathrooms, and up the stairs, you’ll feel as though you walked through a time capsule.

Amber lighting, vintage furniture, and a collection of vinyl records will make even a millennial nostalgic. Be sure to get there early, because this space only accommodates 35 guests at a time, ensuring an intimate and cozy experience.

Beating the crowd won’t necessarily be a pain considering the daily happy hour that starts at 6 p.m. and lasts though through 8 p.m. The retro cocktail menu looks like a playlist and includes groovy drinks with names like Rich Mahogany, Dance or Die, Repeat, Back Room, and the Off Sunset, made of tequila blanco, grapefruit, jalapenño and house-made grenadine. Once you’ve had a couple drinks and want to move onto the ‘drunchies’ portion of the night, you can build-your-own-pizza on your way out.

The music playing in the bar sets the ambience and comes from the racks of records all around the welcoming lounge. Guests are encouraged to bring a record from their own collection and give them a spin on the bar’s vintage record player.

Just a couple blocks away from the iconic Capitol Records tower, an evening spent at Sunset & Vinyl offers a reminder that old Hollywood wasn’t always about the motion pictures.

Location: 1521 Vine St, Los Angeles, CA 90028. See it on Google maps.
