The Lexus US Open of Surfing returns from Saturday, July 25 through Sunday, August 2, 2026, taking over the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier.
The free, nine-day event blends elite surfing competition with live music, athlete appearances, film screenings, and interactive brand experiences from across the action sports world.
US Open of Surfing 2026
This year’s competition features two professional divisions on the World Surf League (WSL) calendar: the second stop of the WSL Longboard Tour and the fourth stop of the WSL Challenger Series. Together, they bring top surfers from around the world to one of Southern California’s most reliable surf breaks.
On land, the festival atmosphere continues with a live music stage at the WSL Beach Bar, DJ sets from iHeart, athlete meet-and-greets, film screenings, and hands-on product demos with giveaways and games from major action sports brands.
Huntington Beach has hosted the US Open of Surfing annually since 1959, thanks to its consistent waves and expansive shoreline. The event has evolved over time from the United States Surfing Championships in 1964 to the OP Pro in 1982, before adopting its current name in 1994.
