Following record-shattering installations across the globe, teamLab has officially selected Southern California for its premier permanent home in North America.
The Tokyo-based collective will anchor a massive, custom-built space in Anaheim.
It promises to bring its signature borderless digital cosmos to the West Coast.
A record-breaking immersive powerhouse

If you have scrolled past jaw-dropping projections of shimmering digital waterfalls or infinite floral lanterns, you have seen teamLab.
Founded in Tokyo, the internationally celebrated group has transformed modern digital art.
In 2024 alone, one of its flagship venues in Japan drew a staggering 2.5 million visitors, earning the record as the most visited single-artist museum on Earth.
Now, locals and travelers will not have to board a transpacific flight to step inside the phenomenon.
The team’s first dedicated U.S. museum is slated to span roughly 110,000 square feet, creating an expansive, multi-room labyrinth of light, color, and sound.
Repurposing transit space for borderless art

Rather than taking over a conventional gallery district, the museum will rise on what is currently the rear parking lot of Anaheim’s ARTIC transit hub.
The location places the museum directly at the crossroads of Southern California’s rail infrastructure, making it directly accessible via regional train lines.
The masterminds at Smith-Clementi and executive architects LPA have conceived the exterior as a striking visual counterpart to ARTIC:
- Shifting facades: Unlike ARTIC’s glowing, transparent shell, teamLab’s home features a largely windowless, sculptural exterior that responds to natural sunlight and shifts its hues throughout the day.
- Living exhibitions: Inside, the artworks react dynamically to human movement, blurring the line between viewer and installation into an uninterrupted continuity.
Part of Anaheim’s massive 100-acre entertainment district
The digital museum marks a major milestone for OC Vibe, the sweeping $4 billion, 100-acre mixed-use development spearheaded by the Samueli family.
While the full development will eventually bring 1,500 residences, two boutique hotels, and 1.1 million square feet of offices to Orange County, the broader district begins welcoming visitors much sooner:
- 2027 kickoff: The initial phase will debut Katella Commons market hall, a 5,000-seat live concert hall, the mass-timber The Weave office complex, and the development’s primary public gathering plazas.
- 2030 debut: The teamLab museum is slated to open its doors to the public in 2030, establishing an internationally renowned cultural centerpiece for the district.
Whether you plan to hop on the train from downtown L.A. or drive down the I-5, this futuristic art sanctuary will offer an entirely fresh way to experience Southern California’s expanding cultural map.
