Winter’s dragging on, and somehow we’re missing the warm sunlight and swimming in the deep blue sea… Well, what If we could trade the gray skies and cool air for a beach towel and sunscreen?
American Airlines is launching a new direct and weekly route from Los Angeles to “the world’s sunniest city”, Brisbane, starting next month. The route is a three‑times‑weekly flight is in partnership with Qantas Airways and is part of a wider push to connect the U.S. with Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, as the company stated in a recent press release.
But there’s a catch and this is why you might want to plan ahead for your trip, as the route is seasonal, aimed at the high travel period from December 5th, through end of January 2026, as Visa Verge reports. So if you’re planning to head Down Under for summer‑fun during that window, you’ve got more direct options. Also, because of the Auckland‑Pacific‑U.S. shift, this kind of limited offer means seats will fill fast (and so will the prices).
Brisbane is the capital city of Queensland and is frequently touted as the “Queen of the Sunshine State.” Though it does not officially have the sunniest or hottest climate in Australia, its humid subtropical weather, mild winters, and plenty of clear skies, averaging 261 sunny days per year, add to its charm as one of the sunniest corners of the planet.
