Last year, we happily followed the many viral adventures of celebrity eagle couple Jackie and Shadow. From the cracking of the eggs that introduced sisters Sunny and Gizmo to the long fledge watch that finally saw them leave the nest and begin their nearby independent lives, it was peak nature reality TV.
Now that 2026 is underway, a new season has officially begun at our favorite wildlife series: Keeping Up With the Big Bear Eagles. As we mentioned in recent updates, January was the key date to watch, and right on schedule, a new family member made an appearance…
On Friday 23 at 4:32 p.m., Jackie laid her first egg of the season and, fingers crossed, more may soon follow. According to Friends of Big Bear Valley, mama eagle typically lay an egg every three days. If additional eggs are coming, Jackie will delay incubating the first one so they hatch closer together.
For now, the proud parents are doing what they do best: staying close, cuddling in the nest, and carefully arranging feathers and sticks to make the comfiest possible home for the next generation of baby eagles. Nature is at it again, and frankly, we’re seated. Stay tuned to witness this little miracle unfold, and maybe even catch a live peek of Jackie laying her next egg!
