San Francisco’s Cake Picnic was one of the most wholesome events we covered last month. 1,387 guests enjoyed 1,387 cakes on a sprawling lawn at the Legion of Honor art museum, making for some seriously stunning imagery and sugar highs throughout the afternoon. With several smash-hit Cake Picnics under her belt, organizer Eliza Sunga is planning an ambitious tour that could unite cake lovers worldwide. And yes, now might be the time to start testing some recipes—because the Cake Picnic is headed to Los Angeles.

2025 Cake Picnic Tour dates
While some dates are still TBD for the 2025 Cake Picnic Tour, we do have a list of cities, and it won’t be long before we get to enjoy the event down in SoCal.
- San Francisco Legion of Honor – March 29, 2025 (passed)
- Carlsbad Flower Fields – April 12-13, 2025 (sold out)
- London – July 5
- Los Angeles – TBD
- New York – TBD
- San Francisco – TBD (still unconfirmed for another 2025 event)
The Cake Picnic’s next stop is this weekend in the abundant Carlsbad Flower Fields, which quickly sold out after it was announced. And even though the L.A. tour date is still in the air, the first 2,662 RSVP spots were quickly snatched up, and the waitlist has grown to another 4,100+. RSVPing won’t guarantee admission, though—you need to purchase a ticket when they’re available, and of course, bring a cake to get in.
The next four cities on the list each have received overwhelming interest through the RSVP link. London’s event in July has nearly 3,000 attendees RSVPing “yes,” and New York already has over 6,000.
In addition to the aforementioned Cake Picnic Tour stops planned for 2025, the event has also put out feelers for Cake Picnic interest all over the world. Proposed locations include Austin, Chicago, Dubai, Florida, Hawaii, Manila, Melbourne, Mexico City, Paris, Toronto, and Vancouver.

What is Cake Picnic?
San Francisco baker, community organizer, and Google UX Program Manager Eliza Sunga is the visionary behind Cake Picnic. The idea was born out of a wonderfully simple desire to eat cake in the park with her friends, but when nearly 200 people showed up to her very first event, things started to take off. Sunga has now hosted two successful picnics at SF’s Legion of Honor, plus events in L.A. and New York.
At San Francisco’s most recent Cake Picnic on March 29th, eager guests had to RSVP, purchase a coveted $15 ticket, and bring a homemade or bakery-made cake. In exchange, each guest received a 12″x12″ cake box and then went on to fill it with slices of any cake that caught their eye.
Carlsbad’s two-day event in the Flower Fields this weekend is also a fundraiser. Tickets cost $65 with a portion of proceeds going towards L.A. wildfire relief. The Cake Picnic will take over the fields from 8-11am on Saturday and Sunday.
