A Santa Monica Dive-Bar Is Serving Meals At Throwback Prices To Celebrate 60th Birthday

By Malia Wooten

Time to party at Chez Jay like it’s 1959!

The nautical-themed bar opened its doors over six decades ago, and this Saturday they’re throwing the ultimate throwback bash to celebrate making it to 60!

On November 16, show up in your best ‘5Os attire to enjoy live Jazz music, era-appropriate cocktails, and of course, and menu with prices so low – you’ll have to pinch yourself to believe it’s all real. We’ve always heard about how great the cost of living was ‘back in the day’ and Chez Jay wants to give you the opportunity to experience it.

Catch a few of the beach shack’s original items from 1959 like a New York cut steak for $5.95, a filet mignon béarnaise for $5.95, or the grenadine of beef with mushroom sauce for $4.50. If seafood is more your thing opt-in for the broiled Catalina swordfish with béarnaise for $3.75, the shrimp curry with rice pilaf for $3.95, or a surf-n-turf top sirloin with lobster tail for just $6.95!

Don’t forget to raise a toast to the good ‘ol times with everything ranging from old fashions and dirty martinis to margaritas and Cuba Libres.
