A few days ago, we woke up to the news of the imminent hatching of bald eagle chicks just a few miles from L.A. The Friends of Big Bear Valley livestream quickly captured the hearts of millions, turning the feathered couple into a viral sensation. Now, that sensation needs your help to name their eaglets. And just when we thought the frenzy over these majestic birds was winding down, a new member of the family (or should we say cast?) joined the spotlight just hours ago.
Like any quality reality TV show, the comedic relief to the starring couple couldn’t be missing. In Keeping Up with Jackie and Shadow, that role belongs to Fiona, a flying squirrel who’s become the latest obsession for animal livestream enthusiasts.
According to Sandy Steers, executive director of Friends of Big Bear Valley, who spoke to LAist, the daring and adorable squirrel has been making appearances for over a decade, ever since the livestream camera was installed in the area.
But Fiona is not alone! She has a brother named Freddie. Though less is known about him, social media users recognize him by his thinner fur compared to his fluffier sister, Fiona. It’s unclear if the daring duo has more siblings, but it’s believed they do…
While we wait for more updates and sneaky appearances from Fiona and her companion Freddie, you can snag an adorable “replica” of this rising star on the official Friends of Big Bear website. It’s a cuddly and beautiful plushie, and with your purchase, you’ll be supporting the nonprofit organization. The perfect keepsake for a great cause!
