There will be free service on all Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) buses and rail lines on New Year’s Eve. This is an annual Metro tradition where free rides are provided aims to help Angelenos reach their holiday destinations safely. That means no drunk driving, no parking fees, no traffic jams, no expensive Uber rides, and essentially free party buses.
On New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31, 2023, no fares will be collected starting at 9 p.m. through Sunday, January 1, 2024, at 2 a.m.The normal weekend bus and train schedules will apply, and trains will run approximately every 20 minutes after 8 p.m., and the last trains will depart around midnight. All Metro Rail stations in the city with latched gates will be unlatched throughout the evening.
From now through January 1, 2024, Metro Bike Share will offer free 30-minute rides. You can redeem your ride by selecting the ‘1-Ride’ option at any Metro Bike Share kiosk, online, or in the Metro Bike Share app. The promo code 010124 can be used multiple times throughout the day but you will need a credit or debit card to redeem your free ride.
On Monday, January 1, 2023, the Tournament of Roses Parade will be held in Pasadena. The Metro A Line rail service begins at Union Station around 4:00 am on Monday, January 1, and the parade starts at 8:00 am. You can find more information here.
Floatfest takes place after the parade and on Tuesday, January 2, floats will be on display. Floatfest shuttles will run every 10 minutes, starting on January 1 from 12:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. and on January 2, from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Regular fares apply for the shuttle, unless transferring from the Metro A Line or Metro Bus Lines serving Sierra Made Villa Station.
