This summer local children and teenagers will have access to a healthy and nutritious free lunch at over 90 Los Angeles City parks. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and is run by the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation & Parks. Their goal is to keep all local children fed this summer.
When schools close in the summer, many children have trouble finding an accessible food source. Sadly, over 80% of students are living at or below the poverty line in the Los Angeles Unified School District. The Summer Food Service Program ensures that children will receive at least one wholesome meal per day during the school break.

The program runs from June 13 – August 2, 2024. No application or proof of income is needed, so just bring your child to one of the participating L.A. City parks in your community. Food is served on a first come – first served basis during lunch hours Monday through Friday. Additionally, no registration or application is required. However, all meals must be eaten on site.
The Summer Food Service Program is open to anyone 18 years of age or younger. Persons with disabilities who are 19 to 22 years of age may also participate. However, they may participate only if they are enrolled in a special school district program during the school year.
