The Grammy Museum is bringing back its third annual Hip-Hop Block Party this June!
On Tuesday, June 16th, from 7:30pm to 11:30pm, guests can head to the museum on W Olympic Boulevard to enjoy an evening of programming commemorating Black Music Month. The party will take over all floors of the museum, feature a variety of musical performances, industry panels, and community activities.
Live entertainment and jam sessions
Attendees can look forward to plenty of live entertainment, including a performance by the LA Drumline, DJ sets by Tempest and DJ R-Tistic, and an MC Cypher hosted by Thomas “Rated TG” Torres. The National Black Musicians Coalition will host a jam session, while Jamal Josef will choreograph “The HBCU Divine 9 Experience.”
Additional entertainment will consist of spoken word and comedy hosted by Barbara Fant, alongside “Urban MusIQ: A Game Night For Music Nerds” directed by Michael “MJ” Jackson.
Up on the rooftop, The Black Music Collective is organizing a special activation with guest performers.
Panels, Markets, and Fashion
In addition to non-stop live music, the schedule incorporates a great lineup of educational and interactive segments, such as a Black Music Month panel and a discussion titled “Monetizing Hip Hop through Film and Television” presented by AAFCA.
Artist and producer Andre Troutman will conduct a talk box demonstration, and Roland will present an open mic segment called “The Mic Is Live!”
Beyond music, the venue will host a makers market, vendor pop-ups, and fashion shows organized by Worthy Opp.
