Have you ever wanted to celebrate the Fourth of July with Shrek? Now you can!
The Hollywood Forever Cemetery in the heart of Los Angeles is kicking off the holiday weekend with a screening of the Oscar Award-winning animated film Shrek, followed by a fireworks spectacular.
The beloved film stars Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, and John Lithgow in the ragtag story about an ogre and his swamp. To save it, he must team up with the loveable-but-loud Donkey to save the Princess locked away in a dragon-guarded tower – but she has secrets of her own…
The screening is happening on Friday, July 3, the day before America celebrates its 250th birthday. Gates open at 7:15 pm, and the movie begins at 9 pm. With a runtime of exactly 90 minutes, the firework spectacle should begin around 10:30 pm.

Here are some tips and tricks for visitors.
- Arrive early for good seating: Gates open at 7:15 PM, and the movie starts at 9:00 PM. Arriving early gives you plenty of time to find a great spot on the lawn, set up your area, and enjoy the pre-show music.
- Pack an outdoor picnic: Guests are welcome to bring their own food, beer, and wine into the venue. You can pack a full dinner or holiday snacks (bringing along green Jell-O is a fun, on-theme option for the night).
- Bring the right gear: Pack blankets, pillows, and low-backed lawn chairs to stay comfortable on the grass throughout the night.
