As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary this Independence Day, cities across the country are going bigger than ever with huge spectacles and reimagined traditions… And Los Angeles is no exception.
While fireworks will still light up skies across the region, DTLA is leaning into the future with what organizers are calling California’s biggest Fourth of July drone show, turning the skyline above Gloria Molina Grand Park into a massive aerial canvas.
The block party will culminate in a synchronized performance featuring 700 drones, creating intricate animations above City Hall in a fully choreographed light show. Produced by Grizzly Entertainment, the display is designed to tell a story in the sky while moving in perfect sync with an original soundtrack curated by longtime L.A. DJ and broadcaster Anthony Valadez.
The soundtrack blends global influences to match the event’s theme of community, culture, and connection, making the drone performance feel more like a live audiovisual production than a typical holiday finale.
Gloria Molina Grand Park’s Fourth of July Block Party
The free celebration will take place this Saturday from 4 PM to 9:30 PM, and organizers expect around 35,000 attendees, making it the largest free Fourth of July celebration on the West Coast. To accommodate the crowds, roughly six city blocks surrounding the park will close to vehicle traffic for the day.
Before the drones take over the sky, visitors can enjoy two stages of live entertainment featuring Anthony Valadez, Pangea Sound, Tatiana Tate, L.A. Tropifunk Collective, and Kaimera dance performances.
The festival also includes interactive augmented reality installations by EyeJack, community art projects, a Ferris wheel, food trucks, zine-making workshops, and family-friendly activities spread throughout the park.
