In a city where “getting there” is half the battle, LAX just dropped a major update that actually makes the arrival process… dare we say, easy?
As Los Angeles prepares for a massive influx of visitors for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has reached a major milestone in its $5.5 billion Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP) with the grand opening of the LAX Consolidated Rental Car Center (ConRAC) — and it’s a total game-changer for the city’s notorious airport traffic.
A new architectural landmark

Believe it or not, the new LAX Rental Car Center is now a legitimate architectural landmark.
Here are the fast facts on the massive structure:
- Size: At 6.4 million square feet, it is the second-largest concrete building in the United States — only the Pentagon is bigger!
- Capacity: It can house more than 18,000 vehicles at once.
- Location: You can find the new hub at 5251 W 98th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90045.
By pulling all 12 “on-airport” rental brands into one centralized hub, LAX is clearing dozens of individual shuttle routes off the terminal roads. For locals and visitors, that means less congestion and a much smoother flow in and out of the airport.
The new facility streamlines the process for all major providers. You no longer have to guess which terminal exit to stand at. All of the following brands are now housed under one roof:
- Alamo, Avis, Budget, and Dollar
- Enterprise, Fox Rent A Car, and Hertz
- National, Payless, Sixt, Thrifty, and Zipcar
How to Get to the LAX Rental Car Center

Currently, the Consolidated Car Center is accessible via a unified shuttle service. Simply look for the “Rental Car Shuttles” signs at the terminal. However, the building is designed to be the final stop on the highly anticipated Automated People Mover (APM) train. Once the train is live later in 2026, travelers will take a quick 10-minute electric ride directly from their terminal to the center, bypassing airport traffic entirely. Together, the car center and APM train will eliminate an estimated 3,200 daily rental car shuttle trips from LAX’s Central Terminal Area.
