This month, Airbnb published its most wishlisted listings across the United States. From a cabin shaped like a camera in Georgia to a remodeled silo in Connecticut, the listings represent an interest in unusual travel experiences all over the country.
In California, the most wishlisted Airbnb listing is “The Sunrise Lakehouse,” a 3-story, A-frame cabin with massive 20-foot panoramic windows and a game room.
It’s situated in Lake Arrowhead, a tranquil alternative to Big Bear with a “Swiss Alps” feel.

Airbnb unveiled its most wishlisted listings just a few weeks ago, but The Sunrise Lakehouse has long been a guest favorite among the best listings on Airbnb.
The 2,500-square-foot, 3-story cabin has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with enough room for 8 guests.
Highlights include a spacious deck with a barbecue grill and fire pit; a stunning game room with a pool table, foosball, and retro arcade games; and towering windows offering scenic mountain views.
The Airbnb is located a short drive from Lake Arrowhead’s most popular destinations, including the newly renovated Lake Arrowhead Village and the popular Skypark.
Visiting Lake Arrowhead
Perched at 5,200 feet of elevation in the San Bernardino Mountains, Lake Arrowhead is sometimes nicknamed “The Alps of Southern California” for its unbeatable scenery. It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach Lake Arrowhead from Los Angeles by car, making it about 30 minutes closer to L.A. than Big Bear.
While Big Bear is a public resort known for its bustling outdoor recreation scene, Lake Arrowhead is a private lake community with a secluded, upscale vibe. Access to the water is restricted to local homeowners, although the above Airbnb listing mentions “Free lake access” if you ask the host. You can also drive about 20 minutes to reach Lake Gregory, which is a public swimming lake.
Activity in Lake Arrowhead is centered around Lake Arrowhead Village, a town center with dozens of shops and restaurants on the water and a free summer concert series. Another popular destination is Skypark, which has a bike park, a zipline, a bicycle monorail track, and a seasonal holiday village.
