Who’s ready to ride? The L.A. Metro is celebrating the holidays with a gift to Angelenos!
On December 24, Christmas Eve, metro riders can enjoy free rides around the city on all city buses, trains, and rails. According to the L.A. Metro website, rides are free beginning 4 am on December 24, 2025, through 3 am on Thursday, December 25, 2025.
The annual tradition provides an eco-friendly way to get around the city safely amidst Christmas celebrations and beyond. You can even spot seasonal L.A. Metro wrap on special buses, rails, and station screens around the city.
Can I ride the Metro on Christmas Day?
While free rides stop at 3 am on December 25, the Metro is still operating on December 25. Metro services will be operating on a reduced holiday schedule. You can find their full Christmas Day schedule on the Transit App.
Administrative offices will be closed on Christmas Day.
Are there any other free days to ride?
Yes!
Passengers can also ride for free on New Year’s Eve from 4 am on December 31 through 3 am on January 1, so you can “safely celebrate the arrival of 2026.”
Have you ever lost anything on the metro?
Did you know about the Metro Lost & Found?
Roughly 14,000 to 15,000 items lost on the L.A. Metro are recovered every year and are housed at a warehouse near the A Line Heritage Square Station. The massive facility is actually devoted entirely to forgotten items. You can check for your items at the Lost and Found warehouse on Monday through Saturday, 9AM to 5PM.
