Captain America: Brave New World
Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) takes over as the new Captain America in Marvel’s fourth installment of the Captain America series. Wilson must work alongside President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford) as the country faces a heinous global plot run by a mysterious mastermind. Marvel is always secretive about the details, but the film is highly anticipated after its release date was postponed multiple times. Giancarlo Esposito, Shira Haas, Liv Tyler, and Rosa Salazar star in supporting roles.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning
Tom Cruise is back to star as Ethan Hunt in the eighth installment of the Mission: Impossible series. With a budget reportedly approaching $400 million, it’s one of the most expensive films ever made, which is evident even by watching the complex sequences shown in the trailer. The supporting cast includes Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, Hannah Waddingham, Angela Bassett, and Ving Rhames.

28 Years Later
Horror fans are gearing up for 28 Years Later, the third installment of the post-apocalyptic series which includes 28 Days Later (2002) and 28 Weeks Later (2007). See how society has evolved 28 years after the Rage Virus was first unleashed on the world’s population. If you’re one of those film buffs who is undeterred by trailers, we’d say this one is worth a watch — the thrilling sequences are set to actor Taylor Holmes’ haunting recitation of Rudyard Kipling’s poem “Boots,” and it’s quite effective without resulting to spoilers. The film stars Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes. The series’ original star Cillian Murphy is on board as an executive producer.

M3GAN 2.0
M3GAN won over fans upon its release in 2023, grossing over $181M worldwide on a $12M budget. As a result of the positive reception, Gerard Johnstone is back to direct M3GAN 2.0, which may be one of the more underrated movie sequels coming out in 2025. We can’t wait to see the next iteration of the entertaining killer doll M3GAN, especially because the film’s campiness is refreshingly self-aware, bringing some comedy for those who are more horror-averse. Allison Williams and Violet McGraw will be back in the two main roles, with new cast members joining including Ivanna Sakhno, Timm Sharp, Aristotle Athari, and Jemaine Clement.

Jurassic World Rebirth
Jurassic World Rebirth is the fourth film in the Jurassic World series, taking place five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will not be back for this sequel, so you can expect an entirely new cast and story that represents a new era in the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World universe. Main stars include Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo.

Downton Abbey 3
Downton Abbey fans have continuously shown their loyalty to the series by showing up in theaters for Downton Abbey (2019) and Downton Abbey: A New Era (2022). Director Simon Curtis and the beloved ensemble cast are coming together again for Downton Abbey 3, although plot details are still TBA. Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary Crawley, told Collider that the 2025 sequel would be a tribute to the late Dame Maggie Smith, who played the elderly Crawley matriarch, for over a decade.

Now You See Me 3
The Now You See Me film series has confirmed the release date for its third installment in November. The popular heist thriller films feature a clever team of illusionists called The Four Horsemen, portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, and Dave Franco. This beloved cast will be back for the latest installment, alongside Mark Ruffalo, Lizzy Caplan, Daniel Radcliffe, and Morgan Freeman; as well as newcomers Ariana Greenblatt, Rosamund Pike, and more.

Wicked: For Good
Audiences flocked to theaters for the first part of Wicked in November 2024, which has already racked up an impressive array of awards and nominations. The highly-anticipated second half, Wicked: For Good, will land in theaters exactly a year after the first. It will follow the events of Act II of the Broadway musical, at which point we’ll see Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) reach her full potential as the Wicked Witch of the West, with Glinda The Good (Ariana Grande) pitted against her as the Wizard’s spokesperson.

Zootopia 2
Disney fans are looking forward to Zootopia 2, which comes to us nearly a decade after the original Zootopia (2016). Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, and Shakira will reprise their roles as Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and Gazelle, respectively. Ke Huy Quan and Fortune Feimster have been confirmed as the voices behind some entertaining new characters, and although more details are TBA, Shakira confirmed that there will be a new song and outfit reveal for Gazelle.

Avatar: Fire and Ash
We all remember when James Cameron’s Avatar took the world by storm in 2009, showcasing unprecedented visual effects and ultimately becoming the highest-grossing film of all time. Cameron teased the franchise’s subsequent installments for over a decade, and we finally got to see the second iteration, Avatar: The Way of Water, in 2022. Avatar: Fire and Ash is now confirmed for 2025, and we can expect two additional films in 2029 and 2031. We’re looking forward to seeing Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, and more of the cast reprise their roles to continue the brilliant story.
