This Sunday, May 28, the short-legged, fury superstars will take to the field to compete for first prize. So Cal Corgis’ cute, immaculately groomed athletes will be trotting across the historic Santa Anita Park track as fast as their paws will allow in the hopes of winning the race. In this six-hour celebration, you’ll be able to root for your favorite Corgi, pick up heart-melting merch from vendors, feast on delicious fare and go on carnival rides. Corgi Nationals is an essential SoCal spectacle if you’re a Corgi owner (or lover).
So Cal Corgis are the organizers of the iconic Corgi Beach Day, where the members waddle down the runway donning their most festive oceanside outfits as hundreds of adoring fans cheer them on. The sassiest model takes the crown, but everyone wins since the day is filled with fun and snacks.
Corgi Nationals is equally fun but with more action thrown into the mix. Guests will pay a general fee to attend (four-legged spectators are welcome too), place your bets on your chosen star runner and take to the sidelines to take in all the action.
There’ll be races throughout the day, with the preliminary ones taking place on a vast grassy patch at the park where forty Corgis move forward to the quarterfinals. Twenty will move forward into the semifinal races, which will take place on the horse racing track, along with the finals, where ten of the quickest pets will leave with a trophy.
Tickets are $12 for entry ($17 for walk up), You won’t be surprised to know that this hugely popular event sells out quickly, so don’t wait. Just note that if you plan to attend with your Corgi in tow, you’ll have a list of requirements to meet, like showing proof of vaccination.
