Imagine shopping at a grocery store that contained items with endearing little eyes and smiling faces. 💖
Though it sounds too good to be true, British artist Lucy Sparrow accomplished to pull off the most adorable immersive art installation this summer at the Standard, Downtown L.A.
Sparrow Mart contains over 31,000 handmade market items, painted and signed by Sparrow herself! All of the charming pieces are for sale and average between from $20 to $30 dollars – one of the more extravagant items costs around $40,000! Spend thirty minutes browsing through aisles of liquor bottles, candy boxes, and canned goods – objects modeled after something that was once alive like fruits, vegetables, and raw produce have faces!
While waiting your turn in line, hit up Sparrow To Go, the Standard hotel’s food and drink tie-in which sits in the lobby. Enjoy real-life food items like a K-Town Shorty or a CBD-infused grape juice cocktail making this grocery run one of the most fun. Sparrow Mart and pop up restaurant are open through August 31st, Tuesday – Sunday 11 am to 9 pm.
Location: 550 S Flower St, Los Angeles, CA 90071. See it on Google maps.
