Street Food Cinema’s popular al fresco affairs have returned as drive-in format and they’ll be taking over Santa Monica Airport this February. You and your special someone (or your beloved quarantine crew) will be able to fill up on romantic films and food truck fare with the scenic L.A. skies as a backdrop—what’s not to love?
The brand is known for finding the perfect match of blockbuster films and scrumptious food in magical al fresco settings. You may have already enjoyed their festive Yuletide Cinemaland Drive-In pop-up at Santa Anita Park or the sold-out events at King Gillette Ranch in Malibu.
They’re also responsible for the elaborate opening nights like the flower-filled “A Marvelous Night at the Drive-In” pop-up at The Grove, where staff members in overalls came around to each car to ensure windows were squeaky clean. Either way, you’re always guaranteed an enchanting night of treats.
This season, they’ll be parking up at Santa Monica Airport with two screenings each night on February 11 and 12. You’ll get to choose from eight movies, including cult classics like Clueless and nostalgic hits like Lady and the Tramp, with a double-feature ticket option.
And if you’re head over heels, you can pour your heart out on the big screen by purchasing a custom Love Letter, which will be shown before the movie starts. Although, you’ll have to start channeling your inner Shakespeare now as the deadline for this request is 6:00 p.m. on February 2.
As for the foodie treats, The Cloverfield will be serving up a drool-worthy menu of L.A. favorites—so you can pass on another night of eating your heart out with takeaways on the couch. There’ll be juicy options like The Taco Trio that’s bound to make your heart skip a beat or dreamy Italian pizzas that you’ll absolutely fall in love with. Of course, there will be vegetarian items and kid’s meals available too.
Food orders can be made on-site on your mobile and ready for pick-up 30 minutes after placing them. Each car should have a designated pick-up person to go and collect the goods. They’ll need to wear a mask, maintain social distancing guidelines and all dining will take place in your car.
