The city is buzzing with public transportation projects like never before. From new airport access, to high speed trains and juicy regional discounts, the city is slowly turning its car-centric reputation upside down.
Now, Metro has just announced they’ll be moving forward with one of the most ambitious projects. The Sepulveda Transit Corridor that will connect the Valley to Westside L.A. will be getting a new underground heavy rail.

Spanning 13 miles with tunnels plunging at least 500 feet under the mountains, this subway could take a trip that normally takes 40 to 80 minutes by car and shrink it to less than 20 minutes. A ride from Van Nuys to Westwood would be about 10 minutes, offering a fast, reliable alternative to the 405 grind.
The line will link major transit hubs, including the Metrolink Van Nuys Station and the Metro E Line, while connecting to multiple Metro lines. That means smoother access to work, school, and entertainment without worrying about traffic. The project is moving forward with careful planning, environmental reviews, and public input, with design refinement and community engagement underway.
