Millions of people tuned in to watch Super Bowl LIX this past Sunday, where the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22. As we hash out the most viral moments, some of us are already turning our attention to future games. Yes, in case it slipped your mind, the Super Bowl is coming to California for the next two years: 2026’s rendition will go down at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, and the 2027 game will come to SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.
L.A. Pride at Super Bowl LIX
If you’re like us, then you may have felt some hometown pride this weekend while watching Compton native Kendrick Lamar bring the house down. This isn’t the first time that the West Coast hip-hop icon has taken over the halftime stage –he previously made an appearance at Super Bowl LVI in 2022 alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige, plus guest performers 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak.
That said, Lamar’s scorched-earth takedown of Drake will go down in history. The performance was accompanied by special guests SZA, Mustard, Samuel L. Jackson, and Serena Williams, another Compton legend. You could certainly do worse right after winning five Grammys.
What do we know about Super Bowl 2026 and 2027?
This California pride should keep us going for a while because the Super Bowl is confirmed at California stadiums for the next two years. This also means numerous major events happening around the host cities ahead of the game, including the NFL Honors, the Super Bowl Experience, Super Bowl Opening Night, and a community program.

Feb. 14, 2027 – Super Bowl LXI at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood
Super Bowl LXI will mark the ninth time that the game comes to L.A. SoFi Stadium previously hosted Super Bowl LVI in 2022, generating between $234.3-$477.5 million for L.A. County. The 2027 Super Bowl will mark 60 years since the very first Super Bowl was played at Memorial Coliseum in 1967.
“We are very excited to bring the Super Bowl back to Los Angeles for the second time in five years,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “The city did an outstanding job hosting Super Bowl 56 in the incredible SoFi Stadium and we believe that Super Bowl 61 will be even more memorable.”
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg…
You don’t have to be a sports fan to know that Los Angeles is gearing up to host some of the decade’s most famous sporting events, in addition to Super Bowl LXI. The world’s eyes will be on us for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and of course the 2028 Olympic Games.
Now, L.A. is still reeling from the devastating wildfire crisis, with rebuilding costs projected in the billions. While private funding is expected to cover the Olympics’ $7 billion budget, questions are certainly being raised about the city’s capacity to rebuild on a strict timeline.
