While L.A. has plenty of experiences and events to delight in, there’s nothing like finding that perfect thing to do with your bestie. That’s why we put a short list of some things to do in the City of Angels that give off heavy BFF vibes! Whether you’re FRIENDS™ fans, Swifties, or Barbie enthusiasts, there’s something for every best friend out there.
1. World of Barbie
If, like us, you grew up playing with Barbies, obsessing over the movies, World of Barbie is the stuff of dreams! Explore the iconic Barbie® Dreamhouse, lounge in her life-size camper van, take the Barbie® Interstellar Airways shuttle to undiscovered worlds and spit your meanest bars at her music studio before checking out Barbie® dolls and accessories over the years .
On top of those super nostalgic installations and activities, you’ll get to build a customized Barbie® set from scratch with the exclusive Build it Barbie! That means you can match with your bestie by having twin Barbies, and if that doesn’t scream “best friends forever,” we don’t know what does. Secure your tickets right here, bestie.
2. The FRIENDS™ Experience
Originally created for the 25th anniversary of the series, The FRIENDS™ Experience has been to various cities around the globe before making Long Beach its home. Step into a world where ‘unagi’ reigns with your BFF, and explore hilarious set recreations, fun costumes, props, merch and of course, photo ops! It’s the perfect thing to do with your lobster if they’re a FRIENDS™ fan like you.
PIVOT! Whether you’re hoisting that couch up the stairs, singing “Smelly Cat” at Central Perk or playing table soccer, The FRIENDS™ Experience will transport you straight into the world of your favorite sitcom. Get your tickets here!
3. Bubble World Experience
The ‘Bubble World’ experience invites you and your best friend to unleash your inner child through 10+ immersive rooms! Each with a unique theme, the different spaces feature ball pits, VR tech, simulators and illusions that will transport you to another universe where senses are heightened. Plus, it’s the perfect opportunity to snap photos for your personal collection (because real besties only have a couple photos together and that needs to change). Oversized bubbles, balloons and soap? Sounds like the perfect summer day! Grab your ticket for Bubble World.
4. Authentic Flamenco show
Award-winning dancer and choreographer, Amador Rojas will be performing in a passionate show brought to you by the Royal Opera of Madrid & Fever. Created by the artist specifically for the occasion, the authentic spectacle brings Spanish culture to light right here, at the Historic Woman’s Club in Santa Monica! And if that isn’t reason enough to check out the stunning show with your bestie, know the Royal Opera of Madrid was named “best opera company in the world” by the International Opera Awards in 2019 — giving you no excuse to miss out on such a memorable performance. Secure your spot!
5. Dinos Alive
What’s more unexpected than seeing walking dinosaurs right here, in L.A.? At Dinos Alive, no more than 80 specimens from the Jurassic come back to life. Come face-to-face with T-Rex, Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Velociraptors and so many more dinos in their natural habitat at 1345 N. Montebello Boulevard.
Plus, you’ll get to interact with sea giants in a virtual aquarium, inquire about the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods and experience life in the Jurassic through realistic VR. It’s simply dino-mite (we had to), so grab your tickets here.
6. Candlelight: A Tribute to Taylor Swift
Swifties, make yourself known! Your favorite artist’s thorough discography is recreated in classic form. Let yourself be “enchanted” by the serene strings of the Orchid Quartet, experiencing well-known tunes in a completely different way.
“Lavender Haze,” “Love Story,” “Cardigan,” “Blank Space” and “Wildest Dreams” come to life, surrounded by the glow of a hundred candles. What better way to bond with your bestie than a Taylor Swift Candlelight concert? Grab your tickets to experience the performance at Immanuel Presbyterian Church and Richard Nixon Library & Museum.
And if you’re not a Taylor Swift fan, check out the other Candlelight offerings in the city!
