If you love classic cars, this is one weekend you probably won’t want to miss. Downtown Ontario is about to turn into a giant celebration of the open road, with more than 1,000 classic cars expected to fill 22+ blocks of historic Euclid Avenue.
The timing makes it even more special. Route 66 is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, so the entire weekend has an extra dose of nostalgia built in.
đźš— A giant car show takes over downtown
The Route 66 Cruisin’ Reunion returns Friday, September 18, and Saturday, September 19. For two days, historic Euclid Avenue will be lined with vintage cars, hot rods, custom builds and plenty of beautifully restored classics.
You don’t need to know much about cars to enjoy it. The sheer number of vehicles makes this a fun event to wander through, especially if you’re into photography, old-school Americana or just want something different to do this weekend.
And because it’s happening along Euclid Avenue, the setting is part of the experience. The historic boulevard is known for its wide, landscaped median and distinctive design. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
🎶 Come for the cars, stay for the vibes
There’s plenty happening beyond the car displays, too. The reunion will bring live music, food and other activities to downtown throughout the weekend. On Friday night, the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies will perform. Then, on Saturday, Lou Gramm will take the stage. There’s also a Route 66-themed Breakfast & Poker Run on Friday for anyone who wants to start the weekend early. Families will have plenty to do as well. A dedicated kids zone will be part of the celebration, complete with a huge Ferris wheel.
Of course, the cars are still the main attraction. You can take your time walking through the displays, check out the different styles and eras, grab something to eat and enjoy the atmosphere along the historic route.
🛣️ A big year for the Mother Road

This year’s celebration has a little more meaning than usual. Route 66 was established in 1926 and once stretched nearly 2,450 miles from Chicago to Santa Monica. The highway became famous as a symbol of the American road trip. While much of the original route has changed over the decades, plenty of California communities are still celebrating its history.
So if you’ve been looking for an excuse to take a road trip this weekend, here’s a pretty good one. You can see more than 1,000 classic cars, walk 22+ blocks of historic Route 66 and catch live music all in the same weekend.
